Second District Workshop For counsilling Officers in Galle District

Second Awareness Workshop for Counselling Officers Held in Galle District

The second workshop in the series of awareness programmes for counselling officers was successfully held on 21 January 2026 at the Galle District Secretariat, focusing on the Galle District.

This programme was initiated in line with the need to network counselling officers into a single platform in order to ensure the effective and direct involvement of both government and non-governmental organisations in the rehabilitation process carried out by the Rehabilitation Bureau, as well as in the national programme to eradicate the drug menace. These efforts directly contribute to the present Government’s “Ratama Ekata”national anti-drug initiative.

The workshop was held under the patronage of the Chairperson of the Bureau of Rehabilitation Senior Professor Wasantha Subasinghe, and was attended by the Galle District Secretary, Mr W. A. Dharmasiri, the Commissioner General of Rehabilitation, Brigadier M. S. Amith, along with senior government officials of the Galle District, invited guests, and a large number of counselling officers representing the district.

The programme provided an important platform for strengthening coordination, sharing knowledge, and enhancing collaboration among stakeholders involved in rehabilitation and drug prevention efforts, with the aim of building a drug-free society.
