Community-Based Mobile Drug Prevention Programme – 2026

A special Community-Based Mobile Drug Prevention Programme, organised by the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board under the Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs as part of the “One Nation Together” National Operation, was held on 18 July 2026 at the Sri Wickramapura Playground, Mattakkuliya, under the patronage of Hon. Sunil Watagala, Deputy Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs.
Implemented with the objective of promoting a healthy and drug-free society, the programme brought together a range of public service institutions to provide services including health clinics, Ayurvedic treatment, and legal advice.
The Bureau of Rehabilitation participated through its exhibition stall, where members of the public and individuals seeking assistance were provided with information on the voluntary rehabilitation referral process and the Bureau’s rehabilitation programmes. Awareness leaflets and bookmarks were also distributed to enhance public understanding of rehabilitation services and drug prevention initiatives.
The event was attended by Brigadier Prasanna Priyalal, Additional Commissioner General of Rehabilitation; Lieutenant Colonel Upul Herath, Deputy Commissioner (Rehabilitation); Lieutenant Colonel O.V.S.I.R.K. Withanage, Rehabilitation Officer, Colombo South; together with other officers and staff members of the Bureau of Rehabilitation
