Awareness Program on Drug Prevention and Rehabilitation for Browns Hotels Staff

The first awareness programme on addiction, drug prevention, and rehabilitation, jointly organized by the Bureau of Rehabilitation and the Browns Hotel Group, was held on 24 August 2026 at Club Hotel Dolphin in Waikkal.

Organized upon an invitation from the hotel chain and under the guidance of its Chief Executive Officer, Mr Eksath Wijeratne, as well as an invitation from Manager Mr Manoj Perera and Administrative Manager Brigadier (Retd) Lucky Raymond, the session addressed key aspects of community responsibility. During the awareness session, the Commissioner General of Rehabilitation, Brigadier M. S. Amit, briefed the participants on the social responsibility of the youth, the consequences of working responsibly, and the rehabilitation of drug addicts.

Furthermore, Senior Psychological Counsellor and Consultant Psychiatrist Dr Chaminda Weerasiriwardena attended as a key resource person, offering a psychological explanation of addiction, its causes, its mental impact, and personality development. Staff members representing all departments of the establishment participated in the event.
